HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome) – what is it, and how we can help at MLA

HAVS (Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome) is an industrial disease that occurs after prolonged exposure to vibration.

This exposure can cause severe damage to the hand, wrist, and arm and affect many systems within the body; sufferers may experience debilitating symptoms that affect their neurological, vascular, and musculoskeletal systems.

At MLA, we’re determined to help your clients get the correct treatment and diagnosis for this widespread industrial disease.

Our latest blog will break down what HAVS is and how we at MLA can help.

HAVS – What is it?

Also known as Vibration White Finger or dead finger, HAVS is a widespread industrial disease affecting tens of thousands of workers. It is a disorder that affects the blood vessels, nerves, muscles, and joints of the hand, wrist, and arm.

The disease saw a sharp rise in cases from 2002-2005, resulting in the EU and UK respectively bringing in regulations to try and flatten the curve.

However, 16 years on, HAVS is continually at the top of reported industrial diseases in the UK.

So how can MLA help…?
