Making our homes greener and more energy-efficient is at the top of many homeowners’ lists. With the government’s Green Homes Grant, this could well be the opportunity for those looking to turn their homes more eco-friendly; the grant offers a £5,000-£10,000 to fund improvements such as home insulation and new boilers.
This home insulation often comes in the form of Cavity Wall Insulation, using materials such as wool or foam to make homes warmer in the winter, thus cutting energy bills.
However, a warning has been given by MPs and campaigners alike that not all may be what it seems and point to previous failed green initiatives that have seen homeowners suffer financially as a result of shoddy quality work. Many of which have been unable to claim redress with little or no consumer protection.
Do you have a client who may have a cavity wall claim? In this latest MLA blog, we’ll showcase precisely how we can help!
Cavity Wall Insulation Reports at MLA –
Our national network of disrepair experts are qualified members of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Should your client have a Cavity Walls Claim, our multi-skilled team provides the seamless service we’re renowned for, leading the industry and delivering reporting the MLA way.
We do this by sending an experienced Chartered Surveyor to the property in question. They will then assess the cavity wall insulation system to determine whether the installation is fit for purpose and meets the industry and legal requirements.
A detailed Part 35 report will be produced that will include:
- Property description
- Moisture readings
- Insulation type used
- Electronic rigid inspection camera findings
- Detailed recommendations, e.g. removal of damp plaster; timber skirting; removal of cavity insulate; repair/re-installation to correct standard
- Photographs/costs that detail property repair to ensure a condition suitable for habitation.
